Petford tooled up for growth with Made in the Midlands

Toolmaker and injection moulding company, Petford Tools is the current recipient of the Made in the Midlands Manufacturing Achievement Award in recognition of the growth it has undergone over the last few years.

 

A worthy recipient, the latest phase of its growth journey was capped off last year by a £1.8m investment in its new moulding facility.

 

The firm recognised that in order to expand then it needed extra capacity, hence the investment in new facilities.

 

Mel Pinar, managing director, Petford said: “Last year was our most invested yet and the hard work is already paying off with sales into the business.

 

“Further investment will continue in order to reach our goal of growing turnover to £20m in the next three years.”

 

Joining Made in the Midlands in 2014, the company has been a strong advocate for the network.

 

It said: “The membership for us has not only created some great orders but has connected us with valuable suppliers and connections.
 
“It’s great to be part of such a strong manufacturing family all working towards the same positive goal.”

 

The group has embraced the MIM ethos and is one of the most actively engaged members in the network.

 

One of the latest examples of this has seen it become an early adopter of MIM’s new Inclusivity campaign.

 

This has been cemented further with Mel agreeing to join MIM’s new Inclusivity Advisory Board.

 

Founded in 1970, the company began operations from a single unit in Brierley Hill. Today the business employs more than 100 people and has become one of the country’s leading independent toolmakers and injection moulders.

 

It continues to develop its product offering, which has paid dividends in terms of winning new contracts. 

 

Petford also designs and manufactures tools for some of the biggest names in the automotive sector.

 

“We have always prided ourselves on providing a toolmaking and moulding service of the highest standard. This ethos has stood us in good stead over the years and means we see clients coming back time and time again,” said Mel.

 

“Like any forward thinking business, we have diversified into new markets and this has paid dividends for us by helping win new orders.”
